Could you be eligible for Pension Credit and other support?
This year, to be eligible for the Winter Fuel Payments and other help with day to day living costs you need to be in receipt of Pension Credit.
If you're over state pension age, you may be eligible to claim Pension Credit which tops up pension income and could be worth on average £3,900 per year.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have announced that as many as 880,000 pensioners could be missing out.
People who claim Pension Credit may also be able to get other help such as:
- help with heating costs
- help with rent and Council Tax
- a free TV licence for those aged 75 or over
- help with the cost of NHS services, such as NHS dental treatment, glasses and transport costs for hospital appointments.
The deadline to submit a backdated claim and receive the Winter Fuel Payment is 21 December.
